I originally made Mikh'li to go alongside a friend's character, with vague plans of roleplaying. This didn't pan out in the long run, but even so I found myself getting attached. I think I might just really like catboys.

It helps that I've always had a solid idea of Mikh'li's backstory, unlike a lot of my other characters. Mikh'li has always felt more grounded in the world, and his personality came about as a matter of course. I've written a decent amount of fic about Mikh'li and done a little roleplaying with him, and he's always come to me very easily.

I only tend to play Mikh'li when I'm working on something specific for him; I leveled a bunch of jobs on him to get a particular title (and also leveled all his crafters for some reason?) but I'm nowhere near as invested in farming glamour on him as I am on other alts. I did get him through Island Sanctuary for those shorts, though.

Backstory

A kid who ended up on the wrong side of Baelsar’s Wall. Got separated from his family when the Garleans made the push towards the Black Shroud/Gridania, ended up lost in Gyr Abania and rescued by folks there; was never able to get back home.

As a result, Mikh'li grew up in Rhalgr’s and joined the Ala Mhigan Resistance as a matter of course. A guerilla fighter from a young age, he has taken part in many a skirmish against the Garleans but always managed to escape intact. His fellows joke that he’s got nine lives. Has seen enough atrocities from the Garleans that he’ll never, ever trust them, and will fight to the death against them.

Mostly follows the Gyr Abanian side of the Stormblood plot; he’s one of the nameless resistance fighters at the Reach.

Of note: Mikh'li is canon to Cálei's storyline; they meet when Cálei first comes to the Reach, and develop a casual friends with benefits relationship.

Some Mikh'li story facts:

• Was injured in Zenos’s attack on the Reach, but not badly enough to keep him from the next skirmish.
• Accompanied the main host as they moved to Ala Ghiri and onwards to Porta Praetoria and Ala Mhigo itself.
• Stays in Ala Mhigo after the war, mostly as an adjutant. He’s very involved with sorting out the whole mess of things there, whether it’s disputes with the local tribes, problems with former conscripts, or what have you.
• Takes part in the Ghimlyt Dark encounter.
• Part of the Ilsabard contingent in Endwalker.
• Post-Endwalker, finally visits Thavnair to deepen his knowledge of dancer techniques.

Minion

I struggled to pick a minion for Mikh'li for a long time; nothing seemed to fit. Eventually I settled on Sponge Silkie for no particular reason other than it's cute. I suppose this means I need to do Sil'dih Subterrane on him at some point for the mount...
