As mentioned on Reis's page, I am unfortunately an achievement hunter. Don't do this. This is not a good game for achievement hunting.
That said, there are some achievements I am not going to do. Some of them are tedious, some are obvious time wasters, and some are just plain bad. Some have really godawful RNG tied to them (looking at you, thief maps) and I truly cannot be bothered. Like, some achievements are not difficult in terms of execution (gathering 30,000 times in Island Sanctuary, for instance) but offer such uninteresting gameplay for such a long length of time that I have no desire to do them.
Personally, I think this is a healthier way to go about it than trying to complete everything. It won't work for everyone, but it does work for me. Looking at achievements as fun projects to work on as opposed to "a boring grind that will take the next 400 hours of my life" makes more sense to me.
That's not to say I haven't done some boring achievements in this game, nor that I have none left on my plate. But it does help me to have that disconnect rather than trying to chase everything.
In any case, I've been at this a long time! I've completed a lot of different things. You can view an overview on my Lalachievements and FFXIV Collect profiles, but here's some highlights of stuff I've done:
If you ask me, the best way to get into achievement hunting is the Triple Triad mount. Getting it requires doing most side content in the game up through Shadowbringers and will take you to every corner of the world. The card game is the easy part; the hard part is getting specific drops from dungeons, trials, and raids. We do not talk about the Eden's Promise card. I got the mount at the end of Shadowbringers and have continued collecting cards since then.
On a related note, I spent three weeks in 2023 spamming Open Tournaments in the Gold Saucer to get the titles from it... and more importantly, an umbrella.
Relics are the other big thing I work on. I have every ARR relic, every HW relic, every ShB relic, and every EW relic. We, uh, don't talk about Eureka. (Okay, no, I'm working on it. Slowly. I don't dislike Eureka, but it is a timesink...) All of the crafter/gatherer relics are likewise done.
This wasn't an achievement until DT, but I have a perenially complete orchestrion collection. If I'm missing any rolls, it's only because they came out recently or I'm waiting for the price to go down.
I learned how to play Doman (riichi) mahjong purely for an orchestrion roll. It turns out mahjong is pretty fun! I'll probably work on the ranking achievements in the future.
While Reis got the crown first, Cálei became a mentor in June 2021 and completed the mentor roulette grind in May 2023, with the only significant break being a three-month period after EW's release. I mostly aimed for 5 roulettes a day, but sometimes I went much harder on it. (And sometimes I got the Praetorium three times in a row and called it...)
I am very close to the big Gold Saucer achievement. The only thing holding me back is... fucking chocobo racing. I'm probably still putting it off as you read this.
I did get the Saint of the Firmament title when it was current. Since then, I have been avoiding going into the Diadem. I'm about a third of the way done with the gathering portion, it's just so soul-sucking that I keep putting it off.
On the subject of crafting and gathering, I have slowly been picking away at all of those achievements (with the exception of fisher). While a lot of these grinds are boring, especially the gathering ones, making them the work of years rather than focusing hard on it turns it into something more enjoyable for me.
Compared to some folks, I'm very lazy about S-rank hunting. I only occasionally go off-world for it, so I've yet to complete any of my expansion-specific mounts. Hunt trains are my main way to cap my weekly tomestones, so those achievements I get naturally over time. I got the tiger mount in 2023, the ShB mount in 2025, and am close to finishing the EW mount.
Maps are dreadfully boring if you aim for clears instead of loot. I have gotten 20 clears in the Aquapolis, the Dungeons of Lyhe Ghiah, the Excitatron 6000, and Cenote Ja Ja Gural. Every time I tell myself I'm not doing this again, and yet somehow I keep doing it...
If a mount is tradable, I will probably buy it on the market board instead of farming it myself, unless I'm already doing that content. With a few exceptions, I collect mounts more than I do minions.
I am missing exactly two notes for the Bozja bike (Lyon I and Menenius II). I'm not that interested in doing the duels and I need to finish my Castrum Lacus Litore and Dalriada achievements, so let's hope they finally drop or I may have to reconsider...
Miscellaneous things I collect include framer's kits, facewear, and fashion accessories. I don't collect hairstyles at all because I've never changed Cálei's hair and doubt I ever will.
